For this project, the client was moving from Ivybridge in South Devon to Street in Somerset—a journey taking the team up the M5 corridor.
The primary considerations for the move included:
Capacity Requirements: A standard two-van setup wouldn't safely accommodate the total volume of furniture and boxed belongings in a single trip.
Single-Day Efficiency: To avoid multi-day delays or back-and-forth shuttle runs between Devon and Somerset, all belongings needed to be loaded and moved in one synchronized convoy.
Transit Protection for Long Distance: Long-distance motorway travel requires extra care in strapping, blanketing, and securing items to withstand movement on the road.
The Strategy: Scaling Up the Fleet

Stage 1: Expanding Fleet Logistics
To complement the standard Moving On Removals fleet, an additional hire truck was brought in for the day. Expanding vehicle capacity allowed the team to distribute the weight evenly across three vehicles, protecting both the items and the transport chassis over the long drive.
Stage 2: Systematic Packing & Transit Preparation
At the Ivybridge property, the crew systematically loaded all three vehicles. Larger, heavier items were distributed baseline across the vehicles, anchored, and wrapped in heavy-duty transit blankets. Fragile items and stacked boxes were strategically built into tight bays to prevent shifting during transit.

With the convoy packed and fully secured, the team made the journey up to Street, Somerset. Upon arrival, the three-van crew coordinated to quickly unload every room according to the client's preferred placement, assembling furniture and getting the client settled ahead of schedule.
